Pinnacle Edition digitizing problem

I would start digitizing from tape and digitizing would stop by itself after 10 - 40 minutes before the end of the tape . One of the problems was that I didn't have enough space on hard drive ... 60 minutes movie needs at least 11 GB of memory just for the movie itself to be stored on hard drive and than even more when you want to burn your edited movie on DVD ... so don't even start without at least 50 GB of free memory on your hard drive. I did a few movies without a problem but than same happened even thou I had enough free memory . Since I neded more memory anyhow for other things I bought 500 GB external hard drive from wal-mart for 80 $ (it is actually 465 GB once you plug it in so you better buy 1 TB if it is 500 GB that you need ) . I changed settings for movie to be digitized on my new external hard drive and it worked perfectly and it was burned on DVD much faster than before . Normally I would leave it to burn it over night and in the morning it would be still 20 % left ,now is finished before I am up. If your PC is new than this maybe is not your problem but if you had many files erased from your hard drive many times to free up the space this could be causing it .
For external hard drive to work properly you need Hi-speed USB on your PC... so check for that before you buy external hard drive or you don't have to check if you buy it from wal-mart as you can return it if it doesn't work good for you .
